THE COACHING RELATIONSHIP
Successful relationships are founded on a mutual desire to make them work. And so it is in coaching. An individual chooses to have a relationship with a coach to help them set and achieve the best goals, to find their own solutions, to approach changes positively and effectively and to develop their skills in managing life’s opportunities and challenges. The coach supports and promotes this in a confidential relationship based on enthusiasm, mutual trust and commitment, honesty, responsibility and accountability.
Professional coaching focuses on the positive, the whole person and moving forward. It does not depend on knowledge of specific areas of expertise or of the person. It does not give treatment or advice. The coach works carefully, sensitively and respectfully on all areas of life to help each person generate their own unique solutions and ideas, that person being their own expert.
And that’s the point. The coaching alliance can help people who really want to move forward and make changes achieve their own goals faster and with more confidence and effectiveness.
